Back to School

I’m one of those parents who considers the first day of school a cause for celebration. It’s practically like Christmas up in here. I’m so excited I can barely sleep. Just a few more days…

Don’t get me wrong; I love my kids. We had great fun this summer with camping and swimming and family togetherness. And I sure do love weeks on end without the need to get up early, rush around getting ready, or to spend afternoons supervising homework projects.

But when my beloved offspring are underfoot every day of the week, my word count plummets. I made a little writing progress in June and July, but it’s been slow going. I’m looking forward to hitting Wholly Trinity hard with one last push to get it finished this month, as well as polishing Portents in anticipation of a Halloween release, all in a quiet, empty house. Ahhh…

So, what have I been up to this past month? In addition to scratching out a bit of writing, I’m working to organize a blog tour for the release of Portents. More info, including dates and locations, will be announced here soon! I also spent some time doing a fun (and useful) exercise: creating online family trees for the Atwater and O’Brien extended families. The cast of characters is large enough, I need technological help keeping track of them all.

I want to offer my thanks to everyone who made the release of The Footmen a success. And thanks to all of you who continue to check in with me here. Mwah!
