As of late Tuesday evening, “Old Enough to Know Better” is now available for download in every conceivable electronic format. Links to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords on these pages are all active now. With any luck, the book will also be available as a print-on-demand offering very soon.
The process was reassuringly easy, for the most part. Amazon’s instructions for using KindleGen (the application that converts Mac documents into .mobi format) are alarmingly incomplete, though – it’s only thanks to my computer genius husband that we got it figured out in under an hour. Barnes & Noble’s “Pub It!” application was a breeze in comparison, but the conversion tool strips some useful formatting from the manuscript and, as a result, the Nook book doesn’t look quite as professionally laid out as the Kindle’s version does. Smashwords’ excellently documented “Meatgrinder” conversion tool does exactly what it claims to do: spitting out eight different formats in under 5 minutes – all of which are live the instant it’s finished. I’m still waiting to hear if I’ll be included in the “Premium Catalog,” which is my ticket into Apple’s iBook offerings.
Thanks especially go out to those of you who’ve already purchased a digital copy of my first book! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. And please consider returning to wherever you bought it and leaving a comment. Honest, specific reviews are a writer’s lifeblood. If you liked it or not, please let the world know.
