Meet Dr. Paige Forsythe

My friend Mimi Sebastian recently tagged me in this MEET MY CHARACTER blog hop thing going around. I’m supposed to highlight a main character from one of my works in progress (WIP). Here’s the list of questions:

1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?

Doctor Paige Forsythe is an historian and professor at (fictional) Newland College. Recent events have left her disillusioned with her career, though, so who knows how long she’ll remain in that ivory tower. <grin>

2) When and where is the story set?

A contemporary Midwestern college town, unidentified. My undergraduate years spent in Bloomington, Indiana were some of the happiest of my life, so I tried to recreate that feel.

3) What should we know about her?

Paige has allowed life to push her around for far too long. It’s time for her to learn to stand up for herself, to reach out and grab what she wants. She’s a thoughtful, intelligent feminist who finds much of what she thought she understood about herself is either wrong or misunderstood. Reed Camden, the hero next door, challenges her preconceived notions, and she struggles to rise to the occasion.

4) What is the main conflict? What messes up her life?

Paige catches her fiancé cheating on her, leading her to question many things in her life and gradually shed long-held delusions. Her overbearing, intimidating family doesn’t make any of this easier, sabotaging her esteem at every turn.

5) What is the personal goal of the character?

At first, Paige just wants to lick her wounds in peace and reconnect with an aging, beloved aunt before it’s too late. Ultimately, she wants to find happiness and fulfillment in her career and personal life. As the plot progresses, the guy next door helps her along with some surprising self-discoveries.

6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?

Ingenue is a sensual, erotic romance between a smart heroine and a beta hero. I like to think of it as BDSM for feminists. You can read the blurb here and an excerpt here.

7) When can we expect the book to be published?

Fall 2014… coming soon!

Be sure to check out Mimi’s Necromancer series, too! You can also find her on Facebook and Twitter.
